A short summary about the life of Rabindranath Tagore

Rabindranath Tagore was born May 7th 1861 into a prominent wealthy family of land owners in Calcutta which is now known as Bangladesh.  He was the youngest of 13 children and his mother died before he ever became a teenager.  He was mainly taught by his brother Hemendranath who would teach him different things in literature, mathematics, anatomy.  Until age 11 when him and his father left Calcutta to a tour of raj where one of his fathers estates was.  His father would teach him of astronomy, history, and Sanskrit declension. He would also try to read biographies of famous people like Benjamin Franklin.  At 16 he released his first set of poems.  He was not to fond of classroom teachings.  He did attend three different universities in his studies which were St. Xavier Collegiate School, University of Calcutta and the University College of London.  He later became the founder of his own University called Visva Bharati University.  Tagore became well known for his literary talents in novel, short stories, poems, paintings and songs.  He was the first Non-European to win a Nobel Peace prize in 1913 for one of his literature works.  Two countries even named their national anthems after his works, the countries were India, and Bangladesh.  He had influenced the world for his literary works and his spiritual philosophies.  Tagore also widely known interactions with famous people such as Gandhi and Albert Einstein.  At the age of 80 he finally passed away in 1941 leaving behind many trademarks. In his lifetime he wrote over 25 volumes of poetry, including hundreds of writings and over two thousand composed songs.  He was also very passionate about education devoting over 40 years to teaching others and influenced international education.  His literacy works are still read today and examined by literature classes all around the world.
