Shantiniketan

Shantiniketan is where Rabindranath's father first found the piece of land.  He found it to be peaceful where he could settle and practice his meditation.  Later on this is where Tagore started the school of Shantiniketa in 1901.  While today it has become a major tourist attraction having gift shops.  Also well known for its academic purposes for the area.   Here are a few links on the history of Shatiniketan.
