Tagore's Nobel Peace Prize

In 1913 Rabinranath Tagore became the first non-European to be giving the Nobel Peace Prize for his literary accomplishments from Gitanjali.  A book of poetry including over 100 writings re-published. Wining the prize opened up more doors for Tagore and eventually gave him the financial ability to start his own university.  Also in 1915 Tagore was knighted by the British Government.  He would soon decline the honor as a protest against British policies in India.  View Tagore's Nobel Peace prize and others from 1913.  Nobel Peace Prize
